I am considering the purchase of a New Holland TC45, the asking price is 15,000.
the machine is a 2001 with 30 hours.
Can someone tell me if this is a good machine, is the price right?
thanks,

I have a TC45 and I am completely satisfied with it. There are options, so the price may vary accordingly.

Does it have 4WD and/or shuttle transmission? Other options? ....

thanks, George ....

I took a look at the TC-45 spec sheet on a NH corporate site. Near as I can figure, mid-pto's aren't available for either the 45 or 45D. While it's possible to run a mid-mower from a rear-pto, in practical terms a mid-pto really is needed. It seems odd to me that a mid-pto wouldn't be offered for these tractors, so it bears checking to make sure I was interpreting the spec sheet correctly.

I don't know how important a MMM is to the idea but a New Holland dealer should be able to tell you what options are available for the tractor. Factory attachments are usually more expensive that after-market equipment but they also tend to be designed specifically for a tractor and other factory attachments. For example, many combinations of loader and MMM mounts aren't compatible and one attachment must be removed to mount another. That also can be true for some factory combinations as well. If the tractor does happen to have a mid-pto and it already has a loader, some prior checking for MMM's that might work would be good.

I live in rugged desert terrain, but if I had much to mow, I would look at a rear mount finishing mower. MMM seem to be in the way for everything else but mowing. They can also be a pain to attach/detach. A rear mower goes on the 3ph and can be swung or backed under the edge of bushes.

I grew up in Missouri and we had a lot to mow there. I used both MMM and rear mount. Mid-mount is easier for mowing around objects, but I generally ended up trimming with a power mower around the house and trees and forgetting about it everywhere else. I doubt that you would want to use a TC45 for delicate mowing since it is a heavy tractor and might do some lawn damage with a MMM when you steer tightly.

With respect to the tractor cost, I think that I paid about 17K for my TC45 which is 12/12 speed and 4WD. But since I bought it with a 16LA loader and 758C backhoe, I am not certain of the exact price without looking it up. 15K is not bad if it is 4WD, and may be a little high if it is not. ....

Thanks for the feedback, the machine is 4WD, have not been able to go look at it yet, I sent an e-mail to the seller advising him of the mid mount mower MMM issue, suggested a price adjusment be considered. I recently looked at a web site that has a number of used New Hollands, the prices seem to be good, http://www.oktractors.com/, ....
